When news hit the Bodybuilding.com message boards, they lit up with excitement.

Challenges were laid and the competition began to heat up almost instantly. And beginning on March 24, 2008, 1,147 bodybuilders and diehard fitness fanatics committed to a full-blown, total-body muscle-building transformation.

Over the next few weeks the official contest thread grew to more than 2,200 posts spread across more than 75 pages. The contest blog filled with transformation photos and personal journals from contest entrants documenting their transformations.
