LOS ANGELES - In addition to the traditional holiday gatherings and fireworks shows, the anniversary of the nation's birth will be marked with a bodybuilding contest featuring impressive physiques, courtesy of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.

The annual Mr. and Ms. Muscle Beach, Venice bodybuilding and figure contest will feature beautiful, sculpted bodies of both sexes, along with appearances by guest posers Ronnie "Macho" Camacho, who is a California State light heavyweight division champion and a former Venice Classic winner, and Lauren Powers, along with entertainment by the band 98-lb. Weakling.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with prejudging starting at 10:00 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., there will be a parade of the participants and the presentation of colors by an Army color guard; the finals in each division will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the event will continue until 5:00 p.m.

The event will be held at Venice Beach Recreation Center, a Department facility that is home to the renowned Muscle Beach, as the location is known in the bodybuilding community. Bodybuilding.com is sponsoring the contest with the City, and KIIS-FM will have a live remote.

A highlight of the event will be the induction of Venice Beach bodybuilding legend and former IFBB professional Dave Draper into the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame. Bill Grant, who is a former Mr. World and Mr. America, will be master of ceremonies.
