2008 Ms. Olympia Review

Cathy LeFrancois: 6th Place $2,000

She dabbled in figure competition for a while, but came back to her roots in bodybuilding. She's back home where she belongs on the Ms. Olympia stage. Cathy won the New York Pro in May and made a solid placing at the 2008 Ms. Olympia.

Le Francois had good conditioning and even displayed some striations in her glutes. I thought she looked a little better at the finals than she did at the judging earlier in the day. It didn't look like she had enough oil on at the judging and it was harder to see her definition.

Cathy's waist seemed a little wide and her thighs needed a bit more sweep to place higher. Overall she has a great physique and again we're glad to have her back.

Dayana Cadeau: 5th Place $5,000

Lady Dayana is from Canada and earned her pro card in 1997. She has a very strong-looking physique with a dynamic style of posing. I thought she looked a little watery at the judging in the afternoon but tightened up for the finals show.

Lisa Aukland: 4th Place $7,000

Fresh off her win at the Atlantic City Pro Show, Lisa came into the 2008 Ms. Olympia with momentum. She displayed confidence in herself both during the judging and the finals. She even chased Iris around during the posedown much like Dennis Wolf chased Cutler at last year's Mr. Olympia.

Aukland has been blessed with great shape and came in with good conditioning. I was very surprised to find out she was 50 years young!

Yaxeni Oriquen-Garcia: 3rd Place $10,000

Yaxeni won the Ms. Olympia title back in 2005 and has been trying to regain it the past three years. It was to no avail and she was only able to attain third place. She looked good and I thought third place was fair. That's where I had her placed.

Yaxeni had the biggest frame in the show and at one point she was towering over her competitors with double bicep shots during the posedown. Even if she was a bit sharper, I still don't think she would have been higher than third.

Betty Adkins: 2nd Place $18,000

Betty Adkins is very gifted with round muscle bellies that are very pleasing in appearance. If it weren't for that other lady named Iris, she'd have an Olympia title. If Iris decides to retire in a few years, I see Betty stepping up to a few-year reign as Ms. Olympia.

Iris Kyle: 1st Place $20,000

Iris Kyle dominated this competition like Ronnie Coleman used to on the men's side. She has incredible structure combined with unbelievable conditioning. Her skin is paper-thin and her muscles seem to explode when she poses. Little feathery lines pop out everywhere.

Iris looked the same at the judging and at the finals. Tight at both shows. Iris was ripped from head to toe and back to front. She deserved the Ms. Olympia title and should be able to hold onto the title as long as she would like to.
