Background When Charles was 17 years old, he weighed a whopping 356 pounds, and was miserable. His self-esteem was at an all-time low, he hated getting out of bed each day. He felt out of place, and felt awkward. Charles knew he had to make some changes in his life. Drastic changes. In just 15 months, he lost 120 pounds. No, that is not a typo. By eating sensibly, exercising, and letting nothing stand in his way, Charles now feels great, and is loving life. It is Charles' hope that more children, like himself, will realize that a healthy lifestyle can make a world of difference and change their world. When Charles was 17, he made a decision that probably saved his life. It wasn't an easy road, but he had the help of many close friends who helped him achieve his goal. Today, Charles is a student at Saint Louis University. He looks slim and trim, and has a new outlook on life. Charles' story has gained a lot of attention lately. He has been featured in national fitness magazines, along with the local newspaper's Health & Fitness section several times. In addition. Additional Accomplishments! In high school, Charles graduated with a 4.3 GPA and ranked in the top ten of his class. He was awarded the Student of the Year Award two years consecutively for academic achievement, leadership ability, and dedication to the school and his classmates. Charles is an accomplished pianist. He sites his most incredible musical experience as when he had the opportunity to play for members of Elton John and Billy Joel's bands. Charles said, "They were just the coolest guys you could want to meet - It was unbelievable to think I was playing the songs I had listened to for years for the people who wrote them!
