Figure competitor, Andrea Dumon, classes her first Olympia experience as "Absolutely amazing." Although she placed out of the top ten she says she felt it an honor to be among the best figure athletes in the world. Next year she will be back with an improved package to contest the top spots. Look for Andrea to make an impact at the highest level in 2007. In the following interview she describes her foray into figure excellence, and gives an insight into how she got there.
Absolutely amazing: I am still in awe of the whole experience, how much fun it was. I have worked the expos and been to the shows in the past, but to be a part of it and compete is a whole other side for sure. I thought I would be incredibly nervous, but far from it. Everyone was so nice and helpful that I felt very comfortable and had a lot of fun.
I was pretty much running around with my head cut off. I competed the weekend before in the Tournament Of Champions (TOC), so I only had a few days to get back home and prep for the Olympia, but maybe that is what took the pressure and stress off - not having a lot of time.

I had a great placing at the TOC (4th) so coming into the O was nice for me. I just prepped like normal by keeping up with my workouts, cooking my food for travel, packing, and staying focused.
I was happy that this was the best I have looked thus far for sure and I felt like I presented myself well. I was not quite as nervous as I thought I would be. I definitely felt I did my homework the right way and felt that I deserved to be on that stage.
I would say getting the chance to compete with the best of Pro Figure athletes in the world. The girls are amazing and, believe it or not, we all got along great. Everyone was so helpful and we just had a blast back stage.

I would say the lights at the pre-judging. They were so hot that they caused my tan to run and become "muddy". I know that it happened to a lot of the girls and it was hard to touch up before the two-piece section, as we didn't have a lot of time.

I would say my legs still need some maturity so I will focus on them as well as my conditioning. I also will improve my posing and presentation. I think after the Olympia stage any show will be much easier.
The Olympia is the "Olympics" and you know that every girl has done her homework and deserves to be there, so the competition is at the highest level. I work to be the best at every show I compete in, but when it comes to a show like the Olympia, I had better be way beyond my best.

I am getting ready for the Sacramento Pro Show and then it is time for a little break. My goal is to make it back to the Olympia next year and see how much I can improve for sure. I am still undecided as to what shows I will do before then, but I do know that I am hoping for an awesome 2007 season.
