Background
Born and raised in New Zealand, I spent several years traveling Australia and Canada; searching, experimenting and studying. I suffered with anorexia in my youth; I think this is what sparked my interest in the fitness and wellness industry. Years of dealing with my own issues towards food and exercise have left me with a large amount of knowledge and a desire to assist others in getting the most out of their own life.
Yoga is a big part of my fitness regime; many people do not realize just how effective it is. It has traveled with me through numerous strange cities and guided me to many places. In Yoga I have found strength, knowledge, faith and confidence. I do truly believe it has the ability to help the body heal anything. Through Yoga I have learned a lot about myself, life and others. I feel that what Yoga has taught me applies to many other areas of health, fitness and of life in general.
When it comes to working out, I feel it is important to develop functional strength. Develop a body that not only looks and feels good but one that you can actually use effectively in everyday life; physically, spiritually and emotionally. Same goes for nutrition, it should be about long term lifestyle balance, something that works for you all round. A way of eating that encourages health of the body as well as the mind.
I believe achieving health and happiness is unique to every individual and it is important to find the right balance that fits and works for you. At the end of the day it is all about the journey, all about stepping aside and finding your own way. I encourage you to make the most of it and enjoy the ride!
