All throughout high school I was always the big guy. I played offensive and defensive line for a championship football team and was arguably one of the strongest players on the field. I was one of the most dedicated players on the team when it came to weight training; I was one of the few who actually enjoyed it. After I graduated in 2006 I planned on playing football in college for one of a few different teams. When the time came to make a decision though both schools offered me no financial assistance what so ever. Because of this I parted ways with football and just attended a community college. During my studies there I had little to no physical activity and began blowing up bigger than I ever was. One day I was walking up the stairs to a class on the fourth floor of the college when I became so winded I could barely talk. This is when I decided I need to get in shape. I joined a local gym and began going every once in awhile.
It wasn't until I met this girl at my job that I really became motivated. I had just met her and really wanted to take her out to get to know each other. But when she wouldn't give me the time of day or wouldn't associate even remotely with me outside of work did I really snap. I started thinking about all the cr@p I had gotten from everyone in school, all the activities and clothes I couldn't wear, the constant lack of self esteem, and the countless amount of rejections from the opposite sex. I then threw everything into overdrive! I was at the gym every day doing my lifts and at the least 45 min of cardio. I researched anything and everything online I could about health, strength, and fitness I could. I bought every muscle and fitness magazine I could find.
And just did nothing but go to class, work, and the gym. When I started to see result I became more motivated, I dreamed of showing every person who rejected the nice big guy that they made a mistake. During my journey I peaked a few times particularly at 262, 244, and 219, but I was still happy that results were happening. Then one day while I was doing some heavy squatting at world gym where I train, the owner approached me and asked if I had ever considered a bodybuilding competition. At first I was like "come on" there's no way I would ever get into a tiny bathing suit in front of thousands of people and have someone judge me on how good I look. Then one day after steeping on the scale that hadn't moved for a month I decided there was no reason to at least not look into it. So I researched bodybuilding and what the whole process was. I met with a local bodybuilding trainer to help me learn the posing and the diet for competing, and went at it like I was competing for the championship in football again.
I was doing hours of cardio a day along with lifting sessions that now that I think about were absolutely insane. Being in college it became hard to get the proper nutrition and get to the gym as much as I needed but everything seemed to work out well for the most part. When I started cutting for the competition I was 212 and on competition day I was 184 lbs. I competed in the Rochester all natural NGA pro qualifier and placed 5th in my division. Now everything couldn't be better. I feel confident in myself, I can wear any clothes I want, and now have no trouble whatsoever with the opposite sex.
I became a personal trainer at my college SUNY Oswego and my first client lost over 50 pounds in three months. I plan to continue the healthy habits and compete in many more all natural bodybuilding competitions to come.

Since I played football my whole life I focused a lot on power lifting and the core lifts. I learned numerous different techniques from studying to be a personal trainer at college so as I learned them I put them to the test. The most effective technique I used was by far supersets! I experimented a lot with super setting two different groups of muscle one after each other with no rest in between sets. This kept my heart rate jacked up and gave me that constant burn!
Don't ever let someone tell you what you can or can't be! All my life I was told by every person that I was destined to always be that big nice guy! So I did something about it. All you have to do is want it because it's always there for the taking.
