In this audio interview, Dan talks with IFBB Figure professional and fitness model, Valerie Waugaman, two weeks after her 2006 Olympia competition. She is a former college volleyball athlete and champion track athlete in high school, and co-owner of an innovative healthy food restaurant, Octane Cafe. Valerie discusses how she got started training for Figure competition a few years ago, and turned pro quickly, building from her athletic background. She talks about her comprehensive and diversified training program, including circuit-style resistance training, bodyweight exercises, plyometrics, core training, swimming, aerobics, high intensity interval exercise, stretching, yoga, hiking, and power walking. Additionally, Valerie discusses her contest prep training, body fat range between competition and non-competition periods, and tips on reducing body fat for competitions. Valerie shares insights about getting ready to compete at the 2006 Olympia, body fat levels, posing technique, nutrition balance, and lessons learned from her competition experience. Valerie also shares some of her motivational tips about how she keeps her competition training schedule going, and talks about her "controversial new posing moves" at the Olympia.
