Harbinger History Sporting goods manufacturer built business on innovative design and premium quality. An industry leader after ten years in business, Harbinger began in 1988 with founder David McCrane and a preliminary design for the most powerful wrist support system ever built into a glove. That design quickly evolved into the patented WristWrap® technology and David used the technology in his first product, the Clawz™ WristWrap® glove that was marketed to the skateboard industry. In the late 1980s/early 1990s, David discovered another strong niche for his WristWrap® glove. Weight training. And thus was born Harbinger's first fitness accessory -- the Lee Haney #130 WristWrap® glove that is now called the Classic #130 WristWrap® glove, and is still among Harbinger's strongest selling products in the fitness category. With the booming fitness movement and increase in weight training activities in the early to mid-1990s, Harbinger saw the need for high quality, innovative accessories including gloves, belts and straps. Over the last eight years, the company has expanded its product line to meet market demand in a category (fitness) previously viewed as a commodity category. Today, Harbinger offers the fitness market more than a dozen different glove styles including the new Wash&Dry™ gloves, synthetic and real leather belts, as well as lifting straps, grips,knee wraps and wrist wraps.

  Harbinger's Roots In Aggressive Protective Equipment. Founded in 1988 by David McCrane, Harbinger began with one product -- the Clawz® WristWrap glove for skateboarders. McCrane came from a skate background, having served as General Manager of Rector, a popular skateboard equipment and apparel manufacturer in the mid-1980s. The Clawz® glove proved popular with skateboarders in the late 1980s and established the Harbinger name in the skate community. With the proven success of the WristWrap® glove, Harbinger saw a need for high quality aggressive protective gear. McCrane drew upon his Rector pad experience and developed a complete line of WristWrap ® gloves, guards and pads, for aggressive skating. The line debuted at the Action Sports Retailer and Super Show trade shows in February 1996. By February 1998, Harbinger had been named Best Aggressive Protective gear by Inline Retailer Magazine for two years running. Today, Harbinger is recognized as a leader in aggressive protective gear for skateboard, inline and BMX. The company specially develops its pads, gloves and guards, to meet the changing needs of today's street and vert riders.
