Dr. Talbott is one of America's leading lifestyle experts. Through his extensive writing and speaking engagements, Dr. Talbott has educated tens of thousands of people around the world (on 4 continents) about the practical approach to achieving optimal health.

Dr. Talbott holds a Master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from Rutgers University. He is a Fellow of both the American Institute of Stress and the American College of Sports Medicine and serves as an Editor and Expert Reviewer for numerous health-oriented websites and scientific journals. Dr. Talbott has counseled professional- and Olympic-level athletes on using nutrition to achieve optimal performance - and as an athlete himself, he has competed at the National and International levels in rowing and triathlon. Currently, Dr. Talbott is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Dept. of Foods and Nutrition at the University of Utah.

Dr. Talbott first made the connection between cortisol and obesity while conducting research at Rutgers University. At Rutgers, Dr. Talbott was part of a research group that was among the first to show that dietary stress could increase cortisol levels and lead to weight gain. Simultaneously, his colleagues at Yale, Stanford, and other universities around the world were uncovering the link between chronic cortisol exposure and a variety of health related problems.

Recognizing that cortisol overexposure was a common metabolic factor in many of our modern-day diseases, Dr. Talbott set out to develop a practical lifestyle approach to help everybody control their cortisol levels. The result of several years of intensive work is Dr. Talbott's SENSE program, which incorporates Stress management, Exercise, Nutrition, Supplementation, and Evaluation into a comprehensive approach to balancing cortisol levels for weight loss and long-term health.
