I was involved in as many sports as possible growing up. With four older brothers, I learned to survive and defend myself. They picked on me all the time. In high school, I played every sport offered. As the years went by, I got married, had a few kids, and didn't exercise much anymore. When the kids were older, I started to run.
In 2004, I started doing 5k's, then half marathons, and then a full marathon (the toughest thing I have ever done). At the time of my marathon, I started to lift weights. I really enjoyed lifting weights, so my focus changed.
I received muscle magazines at the time and liked how the girls looked. I wanted to look like them. In 2007, a friend wanted to compete in a figure show and convinced me to do it with her. I've been hooked since. Now, after doing four shows, I work out almost every day and love it.
I have always been active. Fitness is what I do for a living as a personal trainer. Seeing results drives me to do better.
Seeing results motivates me. Looking at pictures on Facebook, Bodybuilding.com, and in magazines motivates me to get better. No one individual motivates me; they all do.
Watching figure shows pumped me up, looking on the internet for different workouts got me excited, and reading inspirational stories in magazines helped me focus.
Right now, I'm working to build more muscle and compete again.
Find a personal trainer to help you build a program so you get the results you are looking for.
Kim Lyons was one of the first females that I looked up to when I started figure and fitness competitions. She was the person I wanted to look like.
Bodybuilding.com provided tips, workout and diet programs, recipes, and other members for inspiration. If I needed any information about workouts or diets, Bodybuilding.com was where I looked first for the information I needed.
