Lying cable lateral raise

The lying cable lateral raise is an isolation exercise that targets the medial or middle deltoid muscle of the shoulders. It is most common in muscle-building shoulder or upper-body workouts, usually in higher rep ranges of at least 8-12 reps per set.

Benefits

  1. Consistent resistance throughout the range of motion, unlike dumbbell lateral raises
  2. Can be performed by attaching the cables to cuffs on the wrists, or holding D-handles or the cable itself
  3. Effectively isolates the medial delts with minimal involvement of the trapezius muscles
  4. Easy to switch weights for dropsets
